Question 3. What have you learned from your audience

feedback?

Audience feedback is an important thing to have. It allows me to get an idea of what people think to my work so far and what it is they like or think could be improved. In AS, we also received audience feedback on our horror opening asking people what they thought to our ideas. In AS, we done this through Questionnaires asking a selection of questions, however this year for our 2 feedback we decided to narrow our audience down to a specific focus group, that way we could gather more valuable and reliable data. This year, i have decided to target people aged between 17-23 because i feel this age group would listen to our chosen song and genre music and i feel that they will be most likely to respond with helpful opinions.

When gathering feedback, i asked questions about my Final digipak, Magazine advert and our music video we have produced for the Lumineers - Flowers in your hair. To do this i asked the people in my media class to be my focus group as they all match my ideal audiences age, and that way its less time consuming.

What were Our best parts?....

When receiving the feedback for the music video there was a few repetitive answers such as The Location, editing  and how we met the genres conventions, making it all look professional.

Below, i have listed a couple of the responses i received:

"Having the 3 people, representing the band members, keeps it looking professional and the smooth cuts and editing throughout emphasises on the songs narrative showing the personal connection in the music" - Ewan, 18

" Using both the beach and forests as your locations really compliment each other, creating a very chilled and relaxed setting. They fit the song lyrics brilliantly, because being at the beach is where people go to make good memories as it is a happy place. Also it meets the indie' folk genre through the style of clothing used and the slower paced editing and movement between shots also make it a more chilled song" - Samanta, 17

As seen above the editing was mentioned as one of our music videos strengths, due to the fact we worked hard to ensure the lip syncing looked realistic and that the timings matched up well. Also the merging and fade we have between some scenes such as the reminiscing scene, where we show the girl when she was younger merging into what she's like now. I'd agree that this year my editing has improved a lot, with shots intersecting well with one another more smoothly and being able to adjust the brightness/contrast has definitely been a big change in comparison to AS because we struggled with our lighting, and it being too dark lowering the quality.

What could be improved....

Aside, from the great comments and feedback we got on our music video i always feel there is room for improvement so on our questionnaires we also asked them what improvements they think we could do to make our video better. The main ones we received were about our Lip syncing and some of our shots timings. The majority of Lip syncing we managed to match well however i agree that there are some parts where the character himself pronounces the lyrics to slow, causing a slight mismatch in the songs rhythm making it look unprofessional as you can see that he is not actually singing.

After receiving this area of improvement we could only try our best to match the scenes and try adjust the shots speed in order to smooth it out however, there only so much we could do. The only other solution would have been to re-film but this wasn't an option for us due to us having filmed at 2 different locations which required us to travel a far distance.

What did i learn?....

From doing research about feedback i found that the main purposes for people receiving it is so that they can keep the audience interested and entertained by what they are viewing so that they will return for more. This is essential in the music industry, which all producers have to find out first to see what content will keep the viewers engaged, that way its likely to be popular. I found this statement is true, after receiving feedback from my work, that it definitely helps for future ideas or any adjustments that still could be made. I discovered everyone is different in what they like however, they all have the same thing in common which is along as the video is made too a good quality and is put together well then they will watch it because they know it has had a lot of time spent on it to a professional extent. Overall, i have learned that it is important to include the audiences ideas as this will have a positive impact, as they will like the video. Also that, in the future if i'm unsure about what ideas would be best for that specific task then asking the audience for their feedback nd opinion is very helpful.
