Lumineers
The Lumineers are a band that specify in indie and rock folk music. The bands first two founding members were Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. There reasoning for forming the band was as a coping method to deal with Jeremiahs brothers and Schultz's best friends suicide. They started out in 2002 and then there current 3rd member Neyla Pekarek joined in 2010.
According to Schultz the reasoning behind settling for the name 'Lumineers' was because back in their earlier days they was playing in a small club in New jersey when they got mistakenly announced as The Lumineers who were another bands name who had performed there the previous week.
Their early History
Before they started out as a group of 5, the duo would play together at many gigs spread across New York and go under several different names including Free Beer, 6Cheek, and Wesley Jeremiah. Fraites quoted During their first makings "It wasn't taken seriously at the beginning and they started as a crappy band doing terrible covers. In 2008 they invited Jay Van dyke to join the band when they were back then called 'Wesley Jeremiah' later changing to the the Lumineers.

Music style...
Overall the Lumineers have made a successful career where they may have started off as just a joke and not taken seriously however they now make good because videos and have been signed with a few different record labels creating popular singles and albums. Out if the band Schultz writes the lyrics, and co writes with fellow band mate Jeremiah stating "it's never the same thing with each song". Also quoting
"Generally speaking it involves a piano, a guitar, and maybe singing, and we usually start out with the chord, structure, a set of chords, a melody especially and then lyrics usually follow".
The groups style they like to keep their songs "super simple" not aiming to reinvent types or do anything different, they prefer to keep simplicity in their music rather than modernise it or bring out new material which many artist now a days often seek to do. They like the fact they can all sing a room and play instruments keeping their videos and vocal real rather than using all modernised technology such as auto tune and many other digital equipment. The band say that rather than people being inspired by half the music released in the current years they are just used to similar materials or choose to just listen rather than be inspired.
